Walls, ceilings or floors!
We did it.
And want to share it with you!

dB-Bloc

The Coalition contacted NetWell Noise Control of Minneapolis, MN for help.   We share a common wall in our commercial building with a loud restaurant, and were having significant noise problems bleeding into our facility.   Over the course of many days, weeks and months of suffering through this noise,  we decided to investigate the possible solutions to help resolve our problem and restore our offices back to peace and quiet.
We were fortunate to discover NetWell Noise Control online at:

NetWell taught us that the proper insulating technique for sound transmission is to deliver a "density + disconnection" formula to our existing, finished wall surface.   By adding weight to the wall, and disconnecting the framing, we were able to impede the wall's ability to conduct vibtration, and force the collapse of the transmitting sound wave.

String & Cans

The image at the top of this message of our string and cans can best illustrate the concept.   Remebmer as a child when you could pull the string tight between two cans, and through the vibrations of the string make your voice carry?  The success of this improvised telephone was due to the string's ability to carry vibrations back and forth.   Cut the string, the process collapses.

Well, the framing inside your walls, ceiling or flooring surfaces serve the same funtion as the string.    They deliver noise back and forth structurally between adjoiining rooms.   By disconnecting the framing, and lining it with the density of dB-Bloc, we were able to trigger up to a 90% collapse in the energy seeping through.   Quiet!

Product Spotlight:   dB-Bloc

dB-Bloc is a thin mass loaded vinyl sound barrier material designed to layer behind drywall and other finished wall or ceiling surfaces to help combat against the bleed of noise transmitting through a common surface.    This sound deadening material is designed as sound insulation for blocking noise transmitting through common walls.  dB-Bloc measures just 1/8" thick, but weighs more than 1 pound per square foot to produce the density required for a soundproof wall.   dB-Bloc will impair a wall's ability to vibrate to reduce sound transmission.  An ideal treatment for combating sound bleed in thin walls between loud neighbors or room isolation in any residential or commercial setting.   This mass loaded vinyl is shipped in 30' rolls measuring 54" in width.   Each roll will cover 135 square feet and weigh nearly 150 pounds.

What our Clients say...

The results were phenomenal.   Outstanding.  I knew I could expect some kind of result having agreed to spend the money, but I had no idea how well these panels would perform.    I would be happy to serve as a testimonial any time you need a reference.   The treatment worked, and we couldn't be more pleased.   It was as if NetWell converted a gymnasium into a living room."
